The Hurt Locker: When Luxury "Passed" by the Simplicity

Despite the various controversies which accompanied the film "The Hurt Locker" by Kathryn Bigelow, the film finally was able to become champion at the most prestigious film event in the world (according to the American people) edition of the 82.
This movie could fling the most luxurious movie ever made in the world, "Avatar". "Avatar", with many luxuries owned; starting from costs, story, visual effects, sound, art direction, to any - not able to pass the greatness of "The Hurt Locker".

Quite extraordinary achievement "The Hurt Locker" this year, reminded people of "Slumdog Millionare" who became champion 2 years ago. Although before leaving for an Oscar, "The Hurt Locker" has triumphed at the BAFTA, but quite stunning achievement if the competitors who view the fact is far above it. There is "The Blind Side" with the luxury of a Sandra Bullock and story adaptation. Then Peter Jackson through "District 9" with the idea of "political apartheid" disguised through "friendship" between humans and aliens. "An Education" is filled with various meanings and messages to convey through the visual and verbal messages. Collaboration between Quentin Tarantino and Brad Pitt through the "Inglourious Basterds" is so interesting and attractive, and proven by Christoph Waltz who won the title of Best Supporting Actor. Not to mention "Precious: Based on the novel" Push "by Sapphire" is so touching and complex. Coen brothers in "A Serious Man", which was "serious" in the show scene by scene. "Up" with a fresh story and plot, until the "Up in the Air" with the awesomeness of ideas, the story and charming acting of George Clooney. But, it was not able to destroy "The Hurt Locker". incredible!

"The Hurt Locker" was actually "only" tells about the journey of a bomb squad in Iraq, who played neatly by Jeremy Renner. At first glance, this film gives an impression as an independent film with limited expenses, only one side capable of displaying a rare or never even shown the war movie genre, which is a bomb squad with recklessness and "reckless" (although measurable) but still showing figures as ordinary people who have empathy and a sense of humanity. Simple but very human. So far when compared with other film candidates.

There is one thing that intrigued when "The Hurt Locker" to be winners in Oscar and BAFTA. Whether because of storylines, ideas, and so that makes champions? Or just as a sense of respect for U.S. soldiers in Iraq, which British troops there too many (evidenced by BAFTA)? As a "hidden campaign" would be "sad existence" far in the desert with a character so "hard", "no mercy", and even tends to brutal. Or if the "Avatar" who won, the Chinese state may become inflamed or laughed with cynical, because exposure "Avatar" there is only 2 weeks, maybe even less. Kathryn Bigelow only knows and judges the judge. Whatever it is, "two thumbs up" should pinned on "The Hurt Locker" because look at the right moment.

Finally, "The Hurt Locker" with simplicity capable of displaying a true luxury performance by Oscar and a record-breaking Kathryn Bigelow could become the first female director to win an Oscar after 82 years, through the "ex-husband" who may have become her mentor - the director is full of achievement
(from "Alien" to "Titanic"), which is James Cameron with the imagination is extraordinary.

Bravo Kathryn Bigelow!
